Professional Biography

Glenna Joyce is the distilling educational coordinator for the Beam Institute. Joyce collaborated with Craft distiller manager Michael Voils and 8th generation master distiller Freddie Noe to develop and coordinate the Beam Whiskey Apprenticeship Program. This program was designed especially for the Fred B. Noe Craft Distillery operators to develop and expand their knowledge of the whiskey industry. Joyce earned her Master’s in Food Science from the University of Kentucky. Joyce was initially drawn to UK for not only the strong food science program, but the Distilling, Wine, and Beer Studies certificate courses. Prior to graduate school, Joyce worked as a distiller at Upstate Distilling in Saratoga Springs, NY making bourbon, rye whiskey, vodka, and apple brandy. Joyce loves combining her love of distilling and education to help students find their passion for the beverage industry.
